Cuba is a popular hotspot for Canadians, and with good reason… beautiful beaches, friendly people, and a fascinating history combine to give us the perfect escape from winter’s chill. But where should you stay? What resort?
We polled a few of our in-house Travel Experts to find out what their favourite – and most recommended – resorts are in Cuba, and from that we’ve put together a ‘top 5’ list just for you. Take a look!
One of the most popular Cuban resorts that we offer, the Iberostar Ensenachos is an all-inclusive resort that sits alongside two gorgeous white sand beaches. And it is these beaches, particularly Playa Ensenachos, that really set this resort apart – think days of sun-drenched bliss stretched out on talc-soft sand, swimming in clear and calm waters that you can walk out in for miles, and lots of shady spots when you need it. Beyond the beach though, this Iberostar offers all the quality you’d expect from the brand, with dedicated family and adults-only sections, five restaurants, nine bars, five pools, a kids’ club and waterpark, and a lovely spa & wellness centre.
This fabulous adults-only getaway on beautiful Varadero Beach is another popular choice. Offering all-suite accommodations, including those amazing swim-up junior suites, along with three huge lagoon-style pools, a full-service Yhi Spa, and a wide range of gastronomic options, the Paradisus Princesa del Mar also features the brand’s exclusive Royal Service for added luxury. In fact, it’s the Royal Service option that comes highly recommended by our Travel Experts! Guests of this section enjoy free WiFi in their suites (a rarity in Cuba), exclusive beach and pool areas, unlimited green fees and spa discounts.
All suites and adults-only, the Royalton Hicacos Resort & Spa in Varadero is a great choice for your next getaway. Located on a more secluded area of the famed Varadero Beach, our Travel Experts recommend upgrading to the Diamond Club, a premium service that includes, among other things, an unpacking and packing service and waiter service on the beach. Great for weddings and honeymoons, the resort features five restaurants, a wide variety of activities and entertainment, a spa and friendly staff.
Two resorts in one, the all-inclusive Melia Las Dunas in pristine Cayo Santa Maria caters to whatever type of holiday you crave. With dedicated sections for adults-only and families, each with their own pool areas, this resort can be a quiet retreat or a place full of fun for the whole family, without one group interrupting the other. Featuring impeccable gardens, friendly service, a wide selection of restaurants (13!) and a great range of facilities and amenities all stretched out alongside a white sand beach that is truly a sight to behold, this resort is one of our more popular choices for destination weddings as there is something for all guests to enjoy!
This adults-only all-inclusive resort is definitely a favourite among Canadian travellers. Consistently receiving rave reviews, the Paradisus Rio de Oro on Holguin’s Playa Esmeralda knows how to do luxury, and it starts the instant you arrive with a welcome glass of Champagne. The guest rooms and suites are spacious and airy; the grounds are lush and gorgeous and include a natural orchidarium and a stunning coral reef just offshore; there are eight restaurants to enjoy, a full-service Yhi Spa and if you like to scuba dive, guests enjoy one complimentary dive per day. You can also choose to upgrade your experience to the resort’s Royal Service and enjoy a range of additional VIP perks.
